Parenting is like a running a marathon with our kids. It feels like we are given a fixed amount of time that we have to spend with each child, and then doing what we can within that timeframe.
You can either spoil that time making arguments or teaching manners to your kids or use that time appropriately to make it more productive.
One of my friends was asking me what rules do I follow to make this happen. In other words, she was trying to know the tricks that I use to make every moment of our life more productive and positive.
I told her to wait for a week so that I can accurately pen down my thoughts on this topic.
To be honest, I don’t believe in setting lofty aims, comparing myself with other more perfect or more refined mothers; I just do what I can. Then, I just leave the outcomes at God’s mercy.
In my opinion, the best thing we can do for our children is to relax: just curl them up in your arms and take a sound sleep. However, this is not the only thing that we can do for our little ones. There are many more things that we can do to spend real quality time with our kids.
Playing with them:
Looks easy, but, do you have any idea on how to do it? Let’s get down on the floor and start building forts, moving those tiny trucks with hands, playing cards and puzzles…you still have many choices to think about!
We can create great masks by using simple paper plates and then wear those masks while playing. Another simple craft is to press leafs or flowers inside books. It is free, and we can also create art with these flowers. Empty household containers are great to create models. These crafts can entertain kids of all ages.
Every child, especially a girl, likes to be an assistant in the kitchen. We can either buy or make a separate cookbook for them and then allow them to choose a recipe to cook under our guidance. It can become a weekly task.
Going to a picnic:
Almost every child in this world loves picnics. We can pick them up from tuition or school and head to the nearby park. We can make this event more funny by using a particular theme like eating Twinkies, cakes, etc.
Becoming a comedian occasionally :
We don’t always need to put makeup and become a clown to entertain our kid, simply be silly.
I am not sure if you know it already, but our kids will have a great time playing, laughing, and shouting when their Mom isn’t able to see that thing which is apparently standing in front of her (“No, I am not able to see you anywhere.”).
Let’s take another example. We can pretend like our foot is stuck on the floor and we need someone to help. When a kid tries to help, hold their hand tight and act like it is also glued now.
That’s not the end as I have many more ridiculous ideas to share with you. However, I pass it to you to share your thoughts. How do you spend more quality time with your beloved child?
